Join us for this evening panel on January 21, 2020 which is taking place on the 110th Anniversary of the opening of the Angel Island Immigration Station (January 21, 1910). This day is also recognized as the third annual National Day of Racial Healing – a national day created by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to remember and acknowledge our nation’s complex histories and to find opportunities to ensure that every person is valued and respected. This panel is co-sponsored by the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation and the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF).
Come learn more about the history of how communities have banded together to support newly arrived immigrants and to help them get acclimated and oriented to their new lives in the U.S. You’ll have the opportunity to compare and contrast these histories with current day efforts to advance immigrant health on a national level and to support new arrivals in the Bay Area.

Bonnie Kwon, Director of Network Innovation at APIAHF
David Lei, Bay Area entrepreneur, advocate, and historian
Maria Sakovich, Public historian and author
