Dwelling in the Wooden Building, I give in to despair;
Between high hills and the ferry pier, my brows furrow in pain.
Letters do not arrive, my thoughts hopeless;
In bitterness and sadness, I watch for my early release.
Viewing the landscape arouses deep feelings;
Sadness strikes the prisoner in the wooden building.
Harsh treatment is hard to bear, and my heart is breaking;
After more than a month of wandering, tears wet my cheeks.
The ancestral land is in chaos, and vile practices remain;
More and more each day, diehards exert their tyrannical power.
Who can unify the affairs of the Han people?
All compatriots overseas should build a bridge home.
Experiencing parting is the saddest thing;
When holidays come, I remember my family even more.
From afar, I know my brothers are climbing to a high place,
Dogwood sprays in their clothes, short one man.
