Room 105 was intended to be the Japanese men’s dormitory when the site opened in 1910. Yet, a dated poem on the north wall indicates Chinese men were detained in the room as early as October 1911. Men and boys were locked inside their dormitory for most of the day except for meals and outdoor recreation.
